A Chicago man has been charged with multiple sexual assaults that took place in 2022 and 2025.

Chicago police said Chakib Mansour Khodja, 36, faces three felony counts of aggravated sexual assault with a weapon, two felony counts of aggravated sexual abuse with a weapon, two felony counts of aggravated kidnapping, two felony counts of home invasion, and other felony charges.

Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling announced the 16 felony and two misdemeanor charges Monday, saying Khodja is accused of sexually assaulting five women. The assaults took place in May and July of 2022 and in January and February of 2025.

Police said they have been working on this case for years, and most of the charges filed today are connected to DNA they have collected since 2022, including DNA from a bag place over a woman's face.

Khodja was arrested on April 4 at O'Hare Airport after police said he was identified as the suspect in multiple sex crimes.  He was traveling back to Chicago from Algeria.

Khodja appeared in court Monday for a detention hearing, at which the judge described him as a "clear and present danger to all females in the community, no matter what time of day it is."

Chicago police issued warnings about the attacks at the times they were reported, and disturbing details were revealed for the first time in court.

In one case, Khodja is accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old girl who had left a bar and was walking home after her rideshare driver canceled on her. Prosecutors said two men in a dark-colored car offered her a ride. Both got out after another car pulled up behind them.

"She heard male voices outside the car speaking in a language she could not understand," prosecutors said.

That's when Khodja allegedly got into the backseat of and sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutors said when he was done, he left and two men got back in, and then "the victim was shoved out of the car from the rear driver's side door, a few blocks from where she was staying."

Prosecutors said in court that Khodja works as a limousine driver. CBS News Chicago has reached out to the company for a response to his arrest and the charges his faces but has not yet heard back.

The judge ordered his passport be surrendered to the clerk of court within 48 hours after prosecutors detailed his consistent travel to Algeria.

"This man was a violent serial predator who literally went out hunting for his victims," said Cook County State's Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke.

"We can never assume that we have located every victim this predator has targeted," said Supt. Snelling.

Khodja was ordered to be held in custody until his next court appearance on April 23.

Snelling said this investigation was led by multiple departments across the city.

"Although the offender is in custody, we know there is still a long road for the women as these cases are prosecuted," Snelling said. "We stand with these survivors and all survivors of sexual violence."
